According to the latest census, more than eight thousand grandparents in DC are raising grandchildren. There are a host of issues at play in discussions about grandparent-caregivers: how much financial support they should get, what should be involved in gaining legal custody…. But Youth Voices reporter Monique wanted to learn more about the emotional side of raising grandchildren. She decided to start by talking with one grandmother in particular…her own.
